Hi Team,

I hope everyone had a nice long weekend! We are heading into the 2nd half of the season and it is great to see the improvement and progress of the girls. Keep up the up footwork practice at home (Juggling, toe taps…)

CHANGE TO GAME LINE-UPS
As we are halfway through the season, we are going to change how we make the line-ups for each game. We have had a chance to see our competition at least once so far this season and have a good sense of each team’s competition level. Going forward we are going to put together the line-up that gives the girls the best chance for success on the field for each game. Games will still be split fairly over the remainder of the season, but we won’t have set RED/WHITE groups.

CHANGE TO TEAMPAGES EVENTS
Due to the changes above the lineups will be shared in the week ahead announcements and also in the Details for each game in the calendar. This means that all players/parents can check off attendance for any game.
PLEASE ONLY CHECK OFF ATTENDANCE IF YOUR DAUGHTER IS IN THE LINEUP FOR THE GAME THEY ARE LISTED IN THE DETAILS SECTION OF EACH GAME

ATTENDANCE
Please let me know as soon as possible if you won’t be able to make the games that your daughter is scheduled for. We want to try to have a full roster of 12 players for every game going forward.

WEDNESDAY PRACTICES
We are going to have some of the U14 Girls Oakridge Firebirds come out to practices on Wednesdays to help run some activities. This is a great opportunity for the older girls in the club to mentor/teach the younger generation. It should be lots of fun!

Founded in 1975, the Oakridge Soccer Club (OSC) is one of the largest and last community based, not for profit, volunteer based clubs in the greater London region.

Following the values & principles of the Oakridge Optimist Club as friends of youth & community, the Oakridge Soccer Club has evolved into a multi-tiered competitive soccer club that provides opportunities for players from U8 grassroots development to U21 women’s regional to Mens, and Masters Programs to compete year-round.

The success of the club and all of its programs is due to the countless hours spent by an army of volunteers who support players, teams, and the Executive Board to manage the club every season. If it weren’t for these volunteers, the club would be forced to close its doors and no longer provide competitive programs.

Kicked off in 2021, the Executive Board of the Oakridge Soccer Club introduced two Volunteer of The Year Awards ( Grassroots & Competitive) to recognize the dedication & commitment of key volunteers who are supporting the clubs various programs. Nominations are open to any individual who has supported an OSC team/pool/program over the last 12 months. This award will be presented to two individuals who:

-share a deep commitment to supporting youth development, the sport of soccer, and the club
-contribute to the growth of the program
-are organized, punctual, supportive
-go above and beyond, they are an asset to the program/team/club

All nominations are due by Friday, July 15th, 2022.

We have made it to the approximate halfway point of the season! The girls are starting to come together as a team and support each other on and off the field. We are beginning to see some players settle into positions and play with more confidence.

As coaches, we are pleased with the progress so far. These are a good group of girls and with continued focus they will be a force to reckon with on the field!

Reminders for this week:
- Please send me the dates you will be away for vacation, as the school year ends and families begin their summer vacations this helps us ensure that we have a full roster for each game throughout the summer.
- Have your daughters try to spend 10 minutes a day juggling or getting touches on the ball. Here is a video to share with them of what practice can do. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3qkQg-dQ6c4. More touches of the ball and juggling will make them more confident on the field when handling the ball.

NOTE: I will be away from July 18th-July 29th on vacation.

Hi Team,

Another good week of soccer this week. The girls are really starting to come together as a team.

- Coach Holly will be leading the practice on Wednesday as my oldest daughter has her grade 8 graduation. If Holly needs any help she will let you know.
- The girls need to remember their soccer balls, I don’t have any more spares. I recommend that they bring them in backpack or bag of some sort
- Practice kits are Orange Shirt, Blacks shorts, Soccer socks.

PLEASE ARRIVE 30 MINS PRIOR TO THE GAME. THIS ALLOWS THE GIRLS A CHANCE TO WARM UP AND THE COACHES TO PLAN FOR THE GAME
